Marco de Carvalho is a performing artist on guitar, vocals, and music composition. Born and raised in São Cristóvão, Rio de Janeiro, he started out playing percussion and guitar with friends on the streets of his hometown. His experiences at Carnaval parades, matinee clubs, Samba events, Umbanda, Tambores, and Candomblé ritual rooms with his family greatly influenced his musical development and style.

Formally, he honed his musical skills at the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música and Instituto Villa-Lobos in Rio, where he studied guitar performance, harmony and musical theory. He has recorded and produced six albums and now resides in Seattle, where you can find him performing in clubs, collaborating with other artists, and teaching various workshops.
